Fungal infections, also known as mycosis, are skin conditions caused by fungi. Fungal infections are caused by hundreds of species of fungi that exist in our everyday environment. Most people can be exposed to the fungus on a regular basis without adverse effects, but certain conditions can cause the fungus to overgrow and cause symptoms.
