What is Keloid?

Keloid is a skin disorder caused by abnormal or excessive scar tissue formation after a deep incision or injury has healed. It is a dermal fibrotic lesion with no malignant potential.

Keloid scars can affect anyone, but they are more common in people with dark skin, and it is thought that they may run in families. Young people between the ages of 10 and 30 are more likely to develop them.
